CPR-casting

 Benefits:

Intellectual Merits:

  1. Improved performance in the Triple A’s of resolving STEM-related problems:  Articulate (write it, sketch it, describe it), Analyze and Assess, and Ascertain solutions.  We  realized additional benefits:  (1) heightened attention during class, as students may be called upon to respond at any time in a CPR-casting environment (2) increased participation during class, as more students are able to present their assignment and (3) heightened retention of material as evidenced by performance on quizzes and tests.

  2. Improved overall problem solving skills among student participants that impact performance in other coursework

  3. Improved presentation skills among student participants

  4. Heightened awareness of student participants’ learning curve, by both instructor and student
  1. Improved problem solving skills that translate to improved performance across all STEM disciplines.
  1. Improved course grades and enhanced comprehension and mastery of word problems – a skill critical to improved ACS scores; greater leadership roles in related STEM activities - such as tutoring students new to STEM disciplines and initiating the development of additional outreach efforts to budding STEM scholars with whom institutions have strategic partnerships.

We invite other faculty to share their core course concepts and rubrics.  Write to us at: info@cprcasting.com and share your findings.  We will gladly publish them here, under "contributing Universities, and we'll also add your biography and project name in the areas provided.
